Matthew's Field Trip

Matthew's pre-school class had a field trip today to the police and fire stations, and I was able to go with the class. He was so excited to go, he could hardly stand it this morning. They visited the police station first and took a tour, listened to the officers talk on the dispatch radio, looked through the "funny" glass in the interogation room, and heard the sirens on the police car. Here is a picture of their class. Matthew is the 7th from the left.

After their tour of the police station, they headed next door to the fire station. Uncle Doug would be proud to know that when the fire chief asked if anyone knew what type of truck it was, that Matthew raised his hand and said "this one is a pumper truck and that one over there is a ladder truck" of which he was pretty close to being right. This was Matthew's favorite part and he was so attentive to the chief while he was explaining about the hoses and pressure gauges. Then they had the chance to sit in the fire truck

and to put on the gear (which Matthew raised his hand and said "I got to put on all of Uncle Doug's gear and boots and helmet too. It was heavy.")
and to spray the hose!
This was one field trip that I am sure he will not stop talking about!

Update on the kids.

Matthew had a great soccer season, especially since this was his first year playing. At his final game, he scored 2 of the 3 goals and really kept after the ball. He was very excited about getting a medal at the end of the game. His soccer pictures that we ordered didn't turn out really well, since he was sick that day, but here is one I snapped that I absolutely love!

Kaelyn is getting so big, 15 months today actually. She loves, absolutely loves, her shoes and the cell phone! We have even gotten a "hi" from her when she first gets the phone! She is still only in the 5th %, so it is funny to see her next to other 1 year olds! Here is one of the pictures we took at mom and dad's the last week of October.

Halloween

Here are some of our Halloween pictures. Here are both kids in the Halloween shirts....Kaelyn's had a black cat face that was adorable on the front....and our pumpkins from the pumkin patch. Kaelyn was a love bug...
and Matthew was a Storm Trooper from Star Wars.

Searching for the Perfect Pumpkins!

Over fall break, we went up to mom and dad's for a quick visit. On Sunday, the warmer of the two days with highs in the 50's, we (mom, dad, Jen, Aaron, and our family - Doug and Courtney were sick)went to StoneyCreek Farms to pick out some pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. Of course, right away, Matthew wanted to climb the hay bales! Kaelyn wasn't so keen on sitting still so we asked Matthew to hold her.....

We also rode on the hay ride to get out to the pumpkin patch.

And here are the kids searching for the perfect pumpkins.

We ended up with two great pumpkins, one for Matthew to carve and the other just the right size for Kaelyn. And, that wasn't all. The farm had a little hay bale maze and a corn cob cannon that Matthew tried out and almost hit the target. Everyone had a great time being together - especially grandma and papper.....

Matthew is 5!

Matthew turned 5 on Thursday - so grown up so fast. We took him out to dinner with Chris' dad and celebrated with birthday cake and presents at home. He particularly liked his star wars blaster gun.

We will celebrate with my parents next week when they are down to watch one of Matthew's soccer games. So, it seems more like a birthday month for him....and he loves that!

Soccer

Here are some great pictures of Matthew playing soccer.

Matthew ...

Matthew is doing great. He started his second year of preschool last week and is excited to be back! He also just started soccer this fall and had his first game yesterday. He had one drive that was great....got the ball out of the pile up of 8 five year olds and took it the whole length of the field. He kicked it just a little too hard to get to it before it went out of bounds, or he would have scored a goal! I'll post some pictures as soon as I get them off the camera....
